FOREIGN ENGLISH

The Awards for Excellence are now open to anyone wishing to nominate a teacher currently working in Siheung at an elementary or middle school. A new initiative created by the President of the Association was the creation of teaching awards for those foreign teachers that demonstrate excellence in teaching.

One of our goals is to promote the quality of English education in the city, and we see this award program as one of the ways to achieve this.

Creativity and enthusiasm is necessary in any classroom, but particularly in a foreign language class. Getting young learners excited and passionate about English can be difficult at times, and those above average teachers that inspire their students need to be commended for such deeds.

There are many ways to be an outstanding teacher, and as many reasons to nominate someone for an Excellence Award. For example, you might nominate a teacher who uses really innovative teaching methods. A teacher who thinks outside the box and advances new approaches to teaching and learning.

Or maybe it's someone who is outstanding at improving students' reading, writing and communication skills. Someone who inspires kids to read and to love reading; to write and to love writing; and to communicate with more than just words.

The Awards for Excellence nomination process is now open and is accepting applications. The process is closing as of October 31st 2008 11:59 p.m. Any applications received after will not be considered. The awards will be given out during a ceremony in mid-December. Winners may be notified before ceremony. 

A nominated teacher must be working at the time of nomination for any public elementary or middle school in Siheung City. They must have either a valid E or F visa. This teacher can either be full or part time. The Awards committee at F.E.T.A. has the right to withdraw a nomination if it becomes clear that that nominated teacher does no have the qualified teacher/visa status. The Awards committee shall be permitted to exclude any nominee at any time at its sole discretion.
